Any experienced Instrument Operators interested in coming North? Here's a copy & paste from the State of Alaska employment website, note that it says "open to State of Alaska Residents only", but it will be changed soon to "All Applicants". We will also be recruiting for an Engineering Assistant III Position in the Right-of Way division, which will be R/W resolution and mapping, this postion does not require a license, but does help to have one.

Hello Richard,

Are these full time positions, not seasonal?

What is the pay scale for the r/w position?

I worked in Anchorage for a season,am licensed in Arizona and have considerable experience.

How long does it take to establish residency? (Not interested for myself, just curious.)

The R/W position is a grade 21 Engineering Assistant III that currently is at 5875/mo. at the entry level. The current contract expires June 30, 2013, so they'll be negotiating soon. The rate that I stated includes a 5% adjusment for Juneau, so that could conceivably change with the new contract.

I will also check on the seasonal status of the I-man position, I don't think it's supposed to be seasonal.

This is out of the Residency Afidavit, seems kinda vague on #1, so I guess if you come here and establish a permanent domicile, are you a resident on day 1?

Under 02.AAC.07.106, Alaskan residents receive preference in employment with the State of Alaska. Alaskan residence for purposes of employment preference shall be established when:

1) A person is domiciled in the State of Alaska, or
2) A person is presently serving in the military with the intent of being domiciled in the State of Alaska upon completion of military services, or
3) A person can provide documentation of graduation from an accredited high school or post-secondary institution in the State of Alaska or of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) earned while domiciled in Alaska, or
4) A person is presently enrolled in a post-secondary institution in the State of Alaska.

* Domicile: The true and permanent home of a person from which there is no present intention of moving, and to which there is an intention to return whenever away.

Yesterday I was told that we are going to be filling the R/W position, which led me to believe that it wasn't posted yet. I was just informed that the posting recruitment period has passed. Sorry for the miscommunication.

If you still interested and/or qualified there are some other Engineering Assistant positions in Design and Construction listed.
