We are losing our most important person in our department, who is also a poster on this board. He has taken a new job in Montana, and will be missed, both because of his particular knowledge and he's been a good friend, I wish him well. The opening will be posted on Worspace Alaska, but It may only be open, at first, to current State of Alaska employees, then only to currnet Alaska residents, then if not filled to all applicants (certain positions have to be filled this way, if not all). I'm not sure of the total job description, but he directs the crew, makes travel arrangements, files equipment requests, processes the field data, and between him and his assistant create and maintain the survey base drawing for the projects, amongst other administrative duties.
The position does require licensure, but accomodation would probably be made for someone new to the state.
So if anyone wants to relocate to the great white north, keep your eyes open.
