I witnessed another paint event that nearly went BIG TIME when a truck with two brothers (whom I'll call the Collaccis) and they were constantly destroying things with beyond reckless abandon.
While leaving a desert gravity survey on the convoy out, i noticed some flames or pink mist, or both as i watched their truck( an brand new rental I picked up at the airport with the company card) heading toward the sun.
I radioed them to take a look out the window and see what was going on.
As i pulled up, a full 4 alarm fire drill was in full swing as they were attempting to douse the now fully engaged pink flame thrower welded to the battery poles ( Optima D34M BLueTop) with half empty water bottles to no avail.
The 'Friend' that had gotten them the job took matters into his own hands and leapt over the bed of the truck and kicked that flaming pink cloud spewing can into a low arc out of the bed of the truck and onto the road where it sputtered and burped and smoked pink angry vapors for about another 6 or so minutes.
And that was just the start of how the "Collacci Brothers" slowly eviscerated and destroyed that truck in the name of 'hard core getter done' fieldwork. Fortunately, no one ever died ( except vehicles and other expensive equipment) but I remembered that for why we never stored or transported batteries in the bed of the truck ever again. Nor planned on riding with those crazy Collaccis even if it meant walking 5 miles.
That battery was still in service 5 years later albeit with one weirdly deformed pole.

I once had a jokester of a party chief who convinced the summer help to take a whack at a full paint can with an axe to "get the glass marbles out."?ÿ You can guess what happened next.?ÿ
@zapper That sounds like five or six dollars well spent. ???
We would pull that trick on rookies.?ÿ Stick the empty cans with the bob.?ÿ After a week or two we would throw down a full can unbeknownst to the rookie and tell him to try and pop it with his bob.......:) Good times, many don't know what a bob is anymore.?ÿ Good day, Jp
