I am in need of a Cadd tech familiar with long linear projects, skilled in Autocad Map 3D or Civil 3D. This project is a long-haul telecom design that is planned for a 3 to 5 month duration, beginning ASAP, full time 40 to 50 hours per week. This will be a union position with pay of $40/hour plus union benefits and retirement plans (the benefits are really only useful if you continue to work within the union). My preference would be for someone local who can work in my office in Palmer. There is a possibility I could entertain someone working remotely after enough interaction for me to be comfortable with their support abilities.
If anyone knows of an available tech in the anchorage or palmer/wasilla areas, I would appreciate any tips.

Office CAD techs covered by a union??ÿ I've not encountered that before.
This is a fiber optic cable project, so it's in the telecom industry. The work is performed under the IBEW 1547, and every position from design through construction is a represented position. I've been doing telecom engineering with the IBEW for over 20 years now. It's been a good career.
I have filled this position with a well qualified local former survey party chief / GIS specialist.

I dream of filling a position, any position, with a well qualified person in a week. There is just nobody on the street around here.
I don't think Alaska is doing quite as well (economically) as the rest of the country. They end up on a different cycle it seems.
I had a fellow from Anchorage working with me in Portland during 2017. He said that the low oil prices had really killed the Alaska economy. With those prices recovering somewhat, and the economy with it, he went back. Portland's summer mid '80s temps were way too hot for him.?ÿ?ÿ
