Hey guys,

I'm interested in finding anyone who might be re-furbishing EDM boards for the gold ol' Leica TCRA 1100 series total stations. I thought I read somewhere here a while ago that someone knew something about it and thought I would try and open up a new thread.

One of the things that has peaked my curiosity on the issue is that apparently Leica aren't making new boards due to their semi-understandable "planned obsolescence" strategy, which saw these Total Stations phased out mid way through the 2000's. However, I recently cracked open all 3 of my TCRA 1103's and found that my 2000 model has an EDM board in it that has a build date of 2011.

I've attached a photo of the aforementioned EDM board for verification purposes, or to provide you all with a good laugh if I've just made a fool of myself!

Are there any gurus who have any input on this issue?

Mick

It might be that it got a replacement chip designed for a 1205 at some point. But then again, that 1205 may refer to something else.

That occured to me as well. The build date would support that being a possibility. Then again, it could be just a coincidence. It'd be nice though! It would give those of us too stubborn to upgrade an avenue by which to go down. There aren't too many people who trade in their (otherwise) fully functioning cars because of one flat tyre.......

Jim,

Your answer seems to carry some water. The earlier 1200 series Total Stations seemed to have same spec EDMs.

Micheal,
from 1999 all Leica EDM boards look nearly the same but he difference sits with codes in chips and
voltage/current level on the board. That why swapping will not do the job. From 2008/9 boards have bigger motors.
Because Leica doesn't offer anymore EDM bords as spare part the best solution is to repair them.
The board on your pic most probably was installed as whole unit after 2011.

Guys, I need help with Leica TCRA1102 plus. There is a problem with an EDM board, precisely with rotation of Graded Filter Wheel. We need to get some kind of repair, maybe a new micro motor which function is a rotation of previously mentioned Wheel. That is projected on EDM's function which alarm us about too high reflected signal. Can anyone give me a solution of my problem? Thanks in advance...

If you have skills equipment & knowledge how to adjust diode and fiber optic cable end position after installing back EDM board then you can send me just EDM board for repair. If not then I need your instrument.
