i recently switched from a martindale to ontario. i think the ontario has it beaten hands down
Any machete with a handle guard. They have a tendency to flip back right at you if you strike a glancing blow. IMHO
I think a Collins holds an edge better and is a little thinner/lighter. This is important if you have to swing it all day.
My plumb bob, I could never get it calibrated correctly.

You must have been out of plumb bob oil. 😛

I keep an old Allegro around the office to show the accountants when they start to question my credit card receipts

It does not make for as good a story but the most frustrating equipment experience I have had is using off brand, broken and otherwise delinquent tribrachs, tripods and glass. I worked at a shop where we used good guns but poor everything else, which would lead to problems which management would summarily blame on the new fangled robotic gun or mysteriously a perceived lack of paper notes.
And dead batteries, nothing like walking back to the gun 3-5 times a day, 5 days a week to save purchasing a 160 dollar battery.
