The "R" stone is from the 1921 Fryrear Road.
The 1/4 stone is from the 1869 GLO survey of T18S R12EWM Section 14.
The brass cap is self explanatory.

At a former house I had a C&GS mark in a concrete post that had been broken off by a blade. I repurposed it as a stepping stone to a hose bibb. I moved from that house 15 years ago; I wonder if the mark is still in place...

There is a house over on Wright Street (just north of Marconi Avenue) that has a USGS (Geologic Survey) benchmark in the concrete front porch.

They must've asked permission to set it there.

278D5 U17-14 61.162

Standard bronze tablet stamped "U.S.G.S. B.M. 10-JD 1957 61" set in northeast corner of concrete porch @ 2930 Wright St. approximately 300'¦ north of Marconi Ave. (U.S.G.S. B.M. 7-H 1948 60" 60.362 @ 2961 Wright St. across St. from above described bench mark.) See B.M. U17-75 . Levels run from U.S.G.S. Data 10-JD. (Sept 1961)
