By the time spring rolls around, there will be two (yes, two) buildings going up in this general direction of similar height, blocking portions of this view:

111 West 57th Street(1,421 ft), built over the Steinway Piano Showroom.

217 West 57th Street, aka the Nordsrtom Tower (1,550 ft to its roof, and 1,775 ft to the tip of a spire, cantilevered over the Art Students League’s building.

A third tower, 220 Central Park South, will also be built, at a mere 65 stores, around 1050 feet tall.

Critics note that most southern end of Central Park will be darkened by shadows from these four giants (and several other smaller towers) for a large part of the fall and winter.

Just wondering. Why would I need to bring my checkbook when I could just use your wallet instead? yuk-yuk...

Nice pictures.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that noticed the elevation of the tower being 1 foot below elevation 1776. I wonder if this was due to a city permit requirement or out of respect for the Freedom Tower?

No permit requirement that I am aware of....sounds like an intentional nod to WTC 1 (which is officially NOT called "Freedom Tower" anymore).

The tower was added on after the building was first publicized, so it stands to reason they could have just as easily been one foot higher instead of one foot lower. The building will eventually have a top floor elevation higher than 432 Park and the Willis Tower, making it.......well, you get the idea.

Crazy town you work in.
I would have liked to see some pictures of the harmonic balancing unit you were staking. Not sure if that is allowed.
