I can't find any information in either owner's manual about how to recalibrate the vertical collimation. I'm flopping my setup, occupying my backsight point, and missing by .09 vertically over 400 feet, and I'm assuming that vertical collimation is the problem.

The step by step procedure is not in the owners manual for the total station, but rather in the operation manual for the software you are using (Geodimeter CU or Surveyor Controller).

Look under "Pre-measurements" Chapter 5, or "Instrument Adjustment"

The horizontal, vertical, and tilt axis error are all measured in the same routine. You can review the resulting values and keep or discard. I usually write the old values down in a field book.

However can you provide any assistance for Survey Pro 4.8.2?
Thank you;

I'm not familiar with that software.

This is probably a good question for your dealer/repair center, but maybe someone here will chime in.

In the S6 firmware when you turn it on and level it up, you can select adjustments.
and the collimation routine lives there (for the S6).

Happy Collimation Day!

And there are detailed instructions on performing the collimation routine in the S-series User Guide, which you should be able to download.

This PDF may have what you need for the 5600, beginning on pg 115, if you have a faceplate.

That brings up an interesting question. Does the software in the faceplate apply the collimation corrections to the data it is receiving from the instrument, or is it stored somewhere in the instrument with the data already having been corrected?
