@flga-2-2
If SWMBO was pregnant I would have titled the post Miracle.
@mightymoe Me too movement. Wrangler blue denim 30 years and Levi orange denim 40 years. I never realized how heavy they are until I got old.
All Carharts use to be made in the USA but now lot of them are made in Mexico. Not so cool as the old ones. Problem I have is all I my old ones fit some skinny dude and not my fat a$$.
@williwaw Mexico or USA, geographically little difference; beats the heck out of 'Made in China'? I missed the Carhart thing, I stuck with Hanes long-sleeve pocket tees through the whole thing. Grown in America, made in El Savador.
They were so sensitive about their poor quality that they cared if you wore new balance shoes?
Oh....they were super sensitive all right. About a lot of things, not just logo wear. Cameras not allowed (this was relaxed somewhat since everybody has one on their phone, but you didn't want to get caught taking pictures with it). Not allowed to be looking at things off the job site for more than a few seconds at a time. The job site (construction) was surrounded by a high and solid plywood wall.
They were also super, super concerned with security. Identity badges were issued for all personell and the vehicles, and were checked on entry. They feel like they could be a terrorism target and don't want any details about the inner workings of the site getting into general knowledge. I've lived within 1 mile of the campus for 28 years and I really have very limited knowledge of the layout.
I’ve always been cool, the rest of the world is just catching up to me.
I try to wear a John Deere cap when I go in the CIH dealer, and vise-versa. Keeps me in caps.
The old carhart was tough. In early 90’s I bought a coat. Wore it until maybe a few years ago. It was so stiff when I first bought it that my uncle made me bury it in the cattle chute for a week to break it in. No joke. It traveled all over the country with me and outside the country. Now since that coat finally had its day and just had no life left. I have gone through 2 in last several years. They just don’t last for work like they use to.
I've got some Filson gear that works great. This endless winter gave my pants a workout, they still hold together after years of use.
@mightymoe i have been looking at Filson as a carhart alternative. The good clothing manufacturer s for work clothes has taken a page out of the washing machines and dryers playbook. Designed to fail after a short term. So we have to buy more. Jeans and lots of stuff i use to wear lasted for many years now they don’t. I had a filson vest years ago and it was nice lasted held up well. But i have that spreading outer disease so i had to start buying different size attire .
Did a topo at a Coca Cola plant. I almost left, don't need that BS. They were very specific about which brands of beverage products were allowed onsite. Never again. I will find a different job. I don't drink any of that stuff anyway.
Filson is a commitment. But the pants for winter are the best I've ever had. I always hate to put on the rain pants or snow pants. With the Filson pants I don't have to worry about that. They are almost waterproof, and in snow and riding around on the 4-wheeler all you need to decide is it a duofold day or not.
But you don't wash them, only wax them so they do get petina. SWMBO will love them.
@mightymoe It doesn’t usually get that cold here but a good set of briar pants and something that just holds up would be nice.
I have done a fair amount of work on/around the Nike campus. The biggest problem I always had was trying to keep my helper on task with all of the visual distractions around there!
The double Filson pants then, but they do cost.
