I am trying to connect my Trimble TSC2 to a new Sprint Netgear Zing mobile hotspot. I have logged into the Zing and changed the settings to be only 802.11b, saved, reset the Zing (turned off and back on). The TSC2 sees the device but is stuck trying to connect and never actually connects. Any chance I am missing a simple step? The Zing works fine with all my other laptops without any problems.

I must be missing something simple.

Check that your security protocol our TSC2 only does WEP not WPA.

Actually WPA is fine, but the TSC2 can't do WPA2. That encryption spec came out AFTER windows mobile 5 which is the operating system on the TSC2.

I had trouble at first when I set my FC-2500 up to access my Samsung hotspot from USCellular. It was a catch 22 of not being able to find a single security protocol for the hotspot that all of my devices could work with (laptop, DC, and multiple tablets). I don't have it in front of me but I found a setting in the hotspot where I specify the network name and password and the hotspot negotiates with each device as it connects to use the strongest security that the particular device is capable of.

We had an option on one of our hotspots to set it to 5MHZ or 2.4 MHZ.?ÿ The data collector likes the 2.4 setting...
