I thought that I would re-cell some TSC2 batteries as I am sending them to backup status and wanted new batteries. I have had a re-cell from an after market vendor and was not pleased, the battery just did not hold up. Re-celling myself lets me have some control over quality regardless. So I took a sharp gasket scraper and hammered it into one of the glued seems and got a small separation. Using that small separation I was able to pry the entire back lose. The back would only move upwards around 1/4" before I got resistance. Not seeing a ready way to do anything about it I pried it the rest of the way and ruined the battery.

Lesson, leaving the gasket seal alone pry the ribbon cable up first. My pictures show me destroying the gasket seal around the ribbon cable, this is a don't do as I do, it does not need to be touched. Once the ribbon cable is free of the backing then pry the backing off of the larger case half. The backing will come off with no resistance if you do it this way and expose the three cells that need to be replaced. The stock batteries are Samsung icr18650 3.7v 2200mAh 64.9mm x 18.3mm dia cells wired in parallel. This is where I am getting my replacements http://www.batteryspace.com/lg-lithium-nmc-18650-rechargeable-cell-3-7v-2200mah-8-14wh---icr18650s3-un38-3-passed.aspx Save yourselves pain and order them with solder tabs as it takes very special equipment to solder on a cell and it is very dangerous otherwise

The damage caused by not taking the ribbon cable on the backing up:
