I found some previous posts on this subject, but I am having a problem.

I can connect my tsc2 to the hotspot function on my phone (Casio G'Zone) and tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2) with no security. I don't like to do that, I feel it leaves me vulnerable, I have noticed other devices MAC addresses on my phone when I do that.

On the table, I can restrict the MAC addresses, so that only devices that I specify can connect. That is fine, but still someone could easily intercept the transmissions and see my password, login, etc. Not that I am worried about the data itself (VRS corrections). However, the phone does not have that capability, so it is open to anyone to connect

In the office, I can connect the TSC2 to a TP-LINK access point using WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, and setting the version to automatic, encryption to TKIP.

But, when I try the same settings on the phone (WPA PSK), it does not ask for the encryption (the other choice would be AES, which is not a choice in the TSC2). The MAC address shows up in the connected devices list on the phone, but the TSC2 never says connected, just connecting. Same problem on my tablet.

I also have a mifi (which someone else uses) that works OK, but I don't usually have that.

got it to work with WEP

So, I had to set the TSC2 to Open authentication, Data encryption WEP, with a 5 character passphrase, that worked with the phone. But, the tablet does not have WEP.

I know WEP is less secure, but it is better than no security.
