it was updating when the breaker went off. i restart the laptop and re-start the firmware update. this time the firmware update tool can detect the instrument but the computer sees it as ARM7 SATRLLITE with yellow exclamation mark on the device manager with underword saying Trimble device.

Im thinking, is it a USB driver problem maybe? if i. an solve the exclamation point on the device manager maybe jus maybe the fimware update tool will detect the instrument again.

I think your instrument is now without firmware unfortunately so will not accept an update. Hope it doesn't have to travel to far to a technician.
