Trimble R8 w/TSC2 SC stops tracking L2 signal after start up

I currently have a Trimble 5800 and a TSC2 with SC version 12.49. I am borrowing a Trimble R8 version 1 to use as a base. I fired up the R8 and started the base, then moved over to the 5800 and started the rover survey. All communications are good, radio link strong, but the 5800 won't initialize. I started looking at satellites on the 5800 and see both L1 and L2 tracking fine. I go back to the R8 and notice it's only tracking L1, hence no initialization for the rover. Have been through survey styles and that's not a problem.

So I go back to the R8 and shut everything down, then restart. As the unit is coming online I bluetooth in and watch the satellites populate, and both L1 and L2 are being tracked. At about 2 minutes all L2 tracking goes blank and no more L2 information is available, just dashes in the L2 column. Anyone have a clue on this? I reset to factory defaults, no change, I've rebooted everything, no change.

I did read there are power up files that can be used and are embedded in the reciever, but don't think one would turn the L2 channel off.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Slightly similar problem - We have Epoch 50 receivers which are the Camery's as compared to the Lexus "R8". When we use them as network rovers we have to pay attention to the broadcast format. If we select the wrong one the the Russian SVs are dropped from the solution. I would check the base/rover settings in your survey style and make sure all the broadcast formats are the same - I would select the CMR+, older format, but so is the 5800. FYI the 5800 we have has been downgraded to OPUS only...Firmware versions would be my next guess as a root for the problem.

Do a hard boot on the R8 - it takes about 40 seconds or so. Hold the power key down until all the lights go out. After 15 seconds the satellite light should come on; after another 15 it should go back out. At that time release the power key.

As was stated above, make sure base and rover options are both set on CMR+.

Also if you're using an R8 base with a 5800 rover make SURE that L2C is NOT checked in Base Options.

Thanks guys, got it figured out, the receiver was simply shutting down the L2 signal about 3 minutes after fire up. I had tried all the recommendations herein and simply could not figure it out. Picked up a different R8 from the dealer and it worked fine. They are going to check the firmware on that R8 to see if it's the problem.
