I have been looking at the latest advertisement for the Trimble R10 GPS receiver. Do you think that guy could get an RTK fixed solution in that jungle he's in?

He looks poised to chop the antenna off the pole if anything moves or makes a sound.

I took this pic about 18mos ago

I simply stood the pole and antenna up give scale to the picture.

Was shooting static from two bases with 5 minute occupations along a 3,800ft line on a 10 ft offset to the top bank of this creek channel. Accuracy was 0.15± when I checked into sites located with a TS. The sky was full of satellites that day. Every setup had at least 10 in view.

Yeah, with static sessions you can get away with that (sometimes). At the company I used to work for, we used to get shots like that often for section corners in the woods. They would clear out as much of the vegetation around the corner as possible and even use a pole pruner to cut the small branches from the trees to get as much sky possible. Then we run long sessions in case we have to trim the data file to find a sweet spot of GPS data. For RTK, didn't work so well.
