Hi
I've recently experienced the 'REMOTE MONITOR ACTIVE' lock-up problem for the first time with one of our ~20yr old Trimble 4000RS receivers and after browsing this forum discovered that it is most likely down to needing battery replacement and subsequent reinstallation of the firmware. That's fine and I am confident I can do this OK. However I note the comments on the UNAVCO website regarding data loss problems with the firmware v7.29 which I believe is the one my receiver had loaded. Since we don't use the receiver for logging (no memory chips fitted), the data overload problem referred to does not apply. Therefore in order to make use of the Everest multipath rejection capability offered with the v7.29, I would like to re-load this version. However, I cannot find anywhere on the web where I can download this, only v7.19b. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments?
Many thanks
Jon

Trimble 4000 downloads They don't list v7.29. Looks like they have v7.19 for non Everest receivers and v7.32 for Everest receivers. I'll dig through my archived files later to see if I still have a copy of v7.29.

I'm not sure that's a valid conclusion. UNAVCO states that "receivers with 7.29 firmware have experienced loss of data caused by an overloading of the receiver processor." The way I read this, the problem lies not in the storage subsystem, but rather in the processing subsystem, which translates the raw data into a format usable for position determination. Would that not also affect the RS models?

Hi Jim
Thanks for the comments. I don't know much about this stuff but thought the best approach would be to re-load what was previously installed. However my guess is that v7.19 would probably work fine too?

Hello Neil
Thanks for your assistance with this but my PC gyped at the Rapidshare site as it is steam-powered and does not have Javascript enabled. For some daft reason I couldn't view the terms and conditions when I tried to register on the site and my antivirus software also flagged it up as potentially dangerous. Is there any chance you can forward it to me instead by email at: jcb@wesurveys.co.uk ?
Many thanks
Jon
