I have a HASP usb key for my Topcon Tools software. It came from a retiring surveyor that I picked up some used equipment from.
I have had it installed on my Windows XP desktop, my Vista laptop, and a small Windows 7 starter netbook (just to see if it would work with Windows 7). All of these versions were 32 bit.
I could never get it to install properly on my Windows 8.1 64 bit laptop, and I got the authorization codes from my dealer. I recently replaced the Vista laptop because of age, and the Windows 8.1 laptop is my office computer. My new (used) field laptop is a Windows 7 64 bit machine (Home Premium).
I cannot get the usb key installed on the field laptop. I went back and dug out the paperwork from where I got the equipment and install disk, and it looks like the instructions he gave me included a virtual usb dongle he had. I had to have the usb key installed to get everything installed and running.
Now, it looks like my usb key may be going bad. I cannot get the program to install on the 64 bit system, and I have installed the latest drivers from Sentinel, without luck.
Does anyone have a Topcon Tools usb key laying around that they would be willing to part with, or maybe give me a screen shot to see if something is maybe missing off of mine?
I am at a loss, and I don't really want to upgrade to Magnet Tools.
Thanks in advance
I had a similar problem and it was because my dongle was for 32-bit and does not work for 64-bit.
Ditto. We had the same issue. The lock must be 64 bit.
Thanks, did you guys upgrade your usb keys? It's not looking like I can get a new usb key. I called Hayes last week, and the Topcon Tools is not listed on their paperwork anymore.
I am now thinking about possibly installing a virtual box in the laptop to run a 32 bit version of windows 7 to run Topcon Tools. It would be cheaper for the limited amount I would be using the software.
Get a used laptop with Windows 7 just for that. I'm doing the same with XP. Just not worth the expense just now.

I might have to just use the old Vista laptop or the netbook if I have to. I am going to keep looking for someone with a usb key they aren't using, or maybe Topcon will have mercy and authorize the codes for this laptop.
Took it as a sign to upgrade as my total station died too. I went to magnet.
