Thinking about up grading my 8 year old Hyperlite +'s later this summer and really like the price of the Hyper SR. Does anyone have any reviews on the Hyper SR?

You will have to upgrade to a data collector with the new Magnet software to run them if you haven't already done so. This is what was told to me when I was looking to purchase one (I went a different route because of that)

Let me know if you want to sell the old one.

SR is network only, no radios inside, can't pair it with a base as I understand. Haven't used one, but picked one up in a trade show. Love the size and weight of the actual unit. Looks like just the top of the GR5. I think you may be loced into a particular data-colletor, but not sure.

Since I need a base w/radio RTK setup, I am trying to decide between a GR-5 and Hiper V setup. TRK hasn't gotten much cheaper in the last 10 years. It may be more capable, but not cheaper!

Correct they have no radio but it's my understanding they can be used as base rover for RTK through the use of the Longlink Bluetooth. I have Longlike on my PS103 robot and I've no problems with communication loss.

Thanks

Hopefully they will add this to future versions of Survey Pro

Took delivery on one last week, no problems so far. We are using it as a network rover with Carlson SurvCE for data collection. It amazes me as to how fast it fixes. It can be used as a base/rover using the bluetooth, haven't tried it though.

I've found longlink to be quite lacking for?ÿpractical RTK survey work.?ÿ They say 1000', which is in itself fairly useless beyond?ÿsmall scale sitework, more often its 700-800' or less depending on what's between you and the base.

That looks more like a projection issue, I've seen that error message trying to start the base from a new point on a local (5000/5000) coordinate system.

Regarding the statements about radio range with the HiPer SR units in a base/rover configuration, in the name "HiPer SR" the SR stands for Site Receiver.?ÿ Topcon does not expect it to be a solution for applications where extended range or communicating through obstruction is an issue.?ÿ

Consequently, almost all of these units we've sold have been sold as network rovers.?ÿ They work great with Topcon's Magnet Field software.?ÿ We have a number of people using them with Carlson SurvCE or SurvPC.?ÿ I have even gotten them to work with Survey Pro.?ÿ Of course, there are no drivers in Survey Pro for the HiPer SR but the unit will function with the GR-3 drivers.?ÿ Your antenna offset parameters are jacked up but that can be solved for.

Topcon has announced an add-on radio module that will improve communication range but I expect that, initially at least, the only software that will be able to set the configuration up will be Magnet.
