Does anyone have a pdf manual for a Topcon GTS-203 total station. I recently purchased this instrument, but there was no manual with it. I have an HP48GX with TDS software, that will not communicate with the instrument. A couple of us have tried different settings, baud rates, and three different data collector cords, 1 via environmental case and one from the instrument directly to the calculator and still cannot get the two to communicate. Any advice, tips or manuals are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

has them back to the 220 series if that helps.
I have the manual for the GTS-303 and it says that there is a separate manual that deals with the RS-232 communications. I used mine with a huskey, and the settings on the Huskey were Topcon GTSB&4, baud=1200, parity=Even
Those are the settings i used, and it still did not work. The surveyor that had it before passed away, he used it with same data collector until he died. I'm not sure what is going on.
Check under the Total Station Setup screen on the DC to be sure that Instrument Input is set to "enable".
Edit: If nothing else works, find someone else local who has an older topcon or an HP48 and try your instrument with their DC or your DC with their instrument. I've used a GTS-3b, GTS-303, and a newer GTS-235w. All used the identical settings on my Husky.
and it could possibly have a bad rs232 port. we had one die one time, it took forever to figure it out.
check the port on the 48, make sure it doesnt have a bent pin.
Even though from what I remember, it was not unusual to have 3 bad cords laying around. You may even try to find a brand new one.
the full default comm parameters for that (and most all Topcon conventional total stations are:
1,200
Even
7
1
Nothing else will work on that instrument.
Topcon GTS-203 manual; I need one too!
Were you ever able to solve the problem?
Did you ever find a manual?
I'm looking for one, without much luck so far.
