I inherited a couple of Topcon GP-DX1 receivers, and am trying to get familiar with them. The download software, TGLOAD.EXE, appears to have compatibility problems with Windows 7 64-bit. Anyone have experience with this combination?
Thanks!
It looks like my situation is a little more complicated than I thought. I didn't actually get the TGLOAD install disk, I just took the files from the TGLOAD folder on the computer that my colleague used for downloads. That means that there are some DLLs that I don't have.
I'm under the impression that the GP-DX1 is really a Trimble 4700 in a Topcon suit. The power connector is the same 5-pin 1B Lemo used on the 4000-series, and I've verified that a 4000SSi cable will power the GP-DX1. I guess I'll experiment with the comms and see if I can get GPLoad to talk to it. If any GP-DX1 users out there have suggestions, I'd welcome your input!
I had to set this project aside for awhile, but I'm interested in revisiting it. I saw another post (on this board?) about connecting a TSC1 to the DX1 and having it recognize it as a Trimble 4700. However, when I do that I get "unrecognized receiver."
One of my issues is that I don't know what comm cable I should be using. I've been experimenting with various connections. I'd be very grateful if someone could provide a pinout.
Thanks!
Returning to this project, I found the install disks for TGLOAD, but unfortunately it won't run on my Win7/64 desktop. I fiddled a bit with config parameters, but didn't get anywhere.
Next I installed TGLOAD on an old XP laptop. Once I did that I was able to figure out the cabling. The Lemo pinout on the Topcon isn't the same as on a 4700, but even after I got the cable right, I can't get Data Transfer on my desktop to recognize the receiver.
I'm reluctant to rely on XP for downloading. Ideas?
Thanks!
