I've know of a couple old timers just like that... and they were as far from the top in reputation and ability that is possible... at least with people who really are "in-the-know". Thankfully, both are about retired or slowly moving that way.

Surveying Taboo - Hey Ruel!!

I came across some of your C/L tie notes in San Gabriel..in fact, I just finished a survey there. Do you contract with the city to do monument preservation?

reminds me of the saying

Those Who Know Don't Talk, And Those Who Talk Don't Know

I've only did this once...I had surveyed most of the subdivision, everything was where it should be, with one exception. This iron had wandered about 1' off, and there was a recently installed water meter just behind where it should have been. I put it back where I thought it started out life, without no guilt on my part.

pulling other monuments that do not fit your calcs. Even if they are untagged and unrecorded.
I hear its std practice by certain individuals.

I like that... and I guess that is also a sort of a soft jab at me too... but since I didn't name the characters involved, I don't fully qualify.

But's is all good in my 'hood!!
