The scanners and camera would be more impressive if I had a smaller vehicle...
And yes, I did park in a handicapped space. I have a control point in the no parking area next to the space. You can see the white dot in the upper photo.
With a rig like that people are going to think you work for Google and that the thing can drive itself...
Was parking in an assigned spot really that necessary? Looks like an empty parking lot. Sometimes it is empowering to go outside the lines and not obey parking striping.
Sweet rig. What are you going to use it on/for? Actually, I would be more interested in the ROR you anticipate on an obviously expensive piece of equipment. Clue us in!
B-)
Cape Cod needs to be sewered. The sandy soils which make drainage and septic design so easy do not filter the nitrogen compounds (NO2, NO3, NO4) from the wastes. Nitrogen compounds are the limiting nutrient in salt water estuaries and the overabundance of nitrogen compounds leads to algae blooms that stop the UV light from killing pathogens and some other bad stuff happens in the water. Overall quality drops and we lose the eelgrass. Anybody who has ever had a Bay Scallop is a fan of eelgrass because that is where the spat sets up and grows into scallops.
We have run about 15 miles of road traditionally since 2009. It has been a rough project with getting additional crews and pulling together everything into one standard. We are a small office without the staff to handle it all. We hope the lidar is the right solution. So far, I have processed 600-feet of road and I just scanned a 1200-foot section that I will process this week. The learning curve on the point cloud software has been awesome and hopefully by the end of the winter I will be somewhat proficient. Then I can train someone else.
We purchased our equipment from LiDARUSA and we have been pleased. The unit is transportable, so I can break it down, put it in the case and take it on a plane.
LiDARUSA has a drone in production (sales in Canada and Australia) and I have that on my wishlist. Hopefully we pay for this unit by the time the FAA makes those regulations.
I parked in the handi space because nobody was there and my point is right next to it. I have been having success setting up multiple bases but I really need to upgrade my GPS. My 2 GNSS units only have 4 MB onboard memory and the Novatel on the truck wants to record at 0.2-second intervals... That would be about 15 minutes of data on my HiperXTs. I have some GPS units that have 32 MB cards and can record 0.2 second intervals for a long while, but then you lose out on the glonass. So I have been recording the GNSS at 1-second giving me about an hour and fifteen minutes to setup a second base and run the scan...
Whatcha gonna do when Sandy Jr. comes blowing through? Might not be a parking left next time.
You can keep the scallops. They don't suit my digestive tract at all - same with lobster.
However, I can eat as much Alaskan king or snow crab as you can afford to set in front of me - plenty of drawn butter please!! I got spoiled when I was in Anchorage in April '84. The seafood was cheap but a can of Budweiser costed me about 5 bucks. Our first night there I get a shrimp cocktail expecting the same little finger sized things accompanied with a tiny bowl of hotsauce. WRONG! They were gi-normous!! Might have been prauns for all I knew. About the size of small fish.
Eel grass depletion via N, and PO3/4
“The problem of bay scallop population decline has become so extensive that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has closed the state to all commercial fishing for bay scallops and has severely restricted recreational harvest.” Florida FWC.
Eric, ya ain't gotta eat 'em, but it's fun catching 'em.! 😉

HB012 is at 7.28 NAVD and FEMA says it is in a VE 13, so if Sandy 2 comes from the right direction I could lose this point. I would put another out there when they repave. It is such a wide open spot... GPS heaven.

Homosassa. Funny name. Gonna call one of my bowling buddies by that name Wednesday.
