Once the iron is set on the bolt pattern they simply want them vertical, the erecting crew will connect the next floor level and continue to keep them vertical and aligned.

Christ - I though about using a mini prism and I would have preferred to use one. I assume your plan would be to do angled offsets?

I just don't trust a chain guy to get it right for the level of accuracy required for this job. They'd have to line up the plumb point of the prism holder against the corner of the steel and then hold it perpendicular to the instrument.

Heck I don't know if I trust myself to get it right! I think there's less to go wrong using targets for this sort of work.

I would not use the offsets but point the prism exactly to the S7.

do you have video on the S7? You can also use the laser beam and some chalk to make the beam direction visible, or an instrument man guiding the rod man. I used the video on an VX that way.

you can imeadeatly do some cogo Calc and check your measured distance between the 2 corners on your column. You will feel confident! I found the mini prism more accurate then the shots on the reflectieve targets.

This is a scanning job for sure. Survey grade scanner to be used, no blk or equal.

I wouldn't do this the old school way anymore.?ÿ
