An RFQ for some private survey work came across my desk this morning, and in it was a requirement that land surveying to be conducted in accordance with "Specifications for Acquisition Plats and Legal Descriptions". I've been a part of public and private acquisition projects for many years, but never heard of this. Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of this elusive document?
Thanks
Kevin
Sounds like it might be from the jurisdiction the client is in - county or city. Get a more specific reference from the client. Of course, your state requirements still apply as well.
Never heard of it either. Yea, check with the county or whoever is in charge.
Around here if it's the obtaining of private property for public roadway, we simply make a "Parcel Plat", wherein everything is delineated, dimensions, owners identified, ect. Then there is a certification signed by all the owners that they dedicated said land to the public, which then is approved by the city/county. Done deal. Reference to the recorded plat map is in essence the legal description, and not a bunch of lengthly metes & bounds.
Same thing works for private roadways, except there has to be an additional document (deed) executed to transfer those rights between owners.
