Derek, current production house quality is cheap on everything from the foundation up.
I saw one were a side overhang was held up by a piece of facia nailed to two rafters and cantilevered over, I kid you not. They couldn't even go to the expense of getting a 2x piece long enough to cover the whole front of that piece of roof. The rest of it was simply covered by the rain gutter so there was no aesthetic need for a longer facia board.
Cheap junk.
I've always loved the "volume" concept. I guess it works thus:
We discount our price based on the volume of work. Which means we are willing to lose a little on each one, but make up for it in the shear volume of the work.
Translates: If you loose a little on each one, and then multiply that loss by the shear volume of work, you are losing your SHIRT! LOL
Next they were going to tell you to stake every other lot.
Those number even turned upside down are a slap in the face. Some engineering company bastrdizing the Survey Profession . Let them die a slow death . I would have been less cordial to them then you.
