Just aren't worth taking. A developer hired an engineer/surveying company to do a subdivision. The developer is unhappy with the work and decides to sue. Get a call from an engineer to see if i want to join the "team" for the lawsuit on the developers side. No thank you, too busy for that one anyway.:'(

Okay, I'll bite. While as a general rule "developers" are a sub-ethical group of individuals who tend not to make very good clients from a practical business standpoint, there are exceptions. Was the major problem in this case that the engineer expected some OPUS solutions or that an *engineer* was calling in the first place instead of an *attorney* flourishing a retainer check and letter of engagement?
Well, what can they ask you that would preclude you from getting involved?
At any rate, it is MUCH better to take the job KNOWING you're going to court than finishing the job and FINDING OUT that you're going to court. 🙂
Yep that was the problem, developer wanted it all OPUSed and the engineer wouldn't;-)
Actually, it sounded like a relationship that went south somehow, kinda like getting in the middle of a divorce......maybe if I was slow.....I'm sure there's money to be made; but some things just aren't worth it.
Rather not get involved with that kind of job, been there, done that..........I'd rather be surveying that picking at the bones of some failed project.

I just enjoy a good fight sometimes. 🙂
Mighty
Don't give them my name or I'll come up and take your dimpler and vice grips away. I'm highly reluctant to get involved with any engineering/surveying firm and especially a developer, even if I don't like them. It's not worth the time and money, just like me, UGLY is the word. :'(
Pablo B-)
Uh oh! Actually I think you'll be getting a call today, you were the first person I thought of when they asked; "Do you know a surveyor who likes these kinds of jobs?"
