I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8 on it, and that is ok, however, I would like to start bringing my old laptop into the field.
I need to find a program that can convert a TDS .cr5 file, downloaded with the old TDS transfer file program, with the end result being a .dxf file that I can open with autocad in the field.
I have LT 2002 and XP office, yeah I know, but it still works fine for me.
Thanks in advance.
What's the format of the .cr5 file?
O.K. - Forget the above - should have Googled first!
The file is a text file in PNEZD format with additional columns.
If you open it in Excell and reduce the columns to the first 5 plus any String code column it can be read by FreeCOGO.
FreeCOGO can then export a DXF file that can be read by LT-2000.
Download FreeCOGO here:-

If you like send the file to me and I will return a DXF.

At the risk of self-promotion, Carlson Survey would/should be able to accomplish this for you. With the CR5 file on your computer, the process in Carlson would be to:
1. Issue the Points -- Convert Point Format -- Convert TDS CR5 to CRD.

2. Issue the Survey -- Draw Field to Finish command to process the points in the new CRD into point/linework entities inside the IntelliCAD engine.
3. As a potential alternative to Steps 1 and 2 above, you might even explore the Points -- Import Text/ASCII File command which should be able to handle the process in a single command:

> I have LT 2002 and XP office, yeah I know, but it still works fine for me.
4. From the Settings menu, choose IntelliCAD Options and set the default "Save As" format to the AutoCAD 2000 DWG format (or DXF if you want to go that route):

5. Save the resulting drawing and work to your heart's content in AutoCAD 2002.
