I'm looking into options to secure stationary equipment when out on the field. Mostly in cases of leaving a total station/GPS on a tripod, and in case someone tries to lift it or mess with it to trigger an alarm kind of like the siren that sounds on bikes and cars. Has anyone had any experience with that in the past, or should i be looking for other methods to secure the equipment

-This cable that is mentioned, where does it hook into? Is this for the lemo power port, or some other input

-If i cover the top of the mount with a paper bag, or super market bag, will it interfere with signal received from the unit and result in weird behaviors?

What I did, robotic total station: ran the tribrach latch screw all the way in so the latch can't be turned (at least not without breaking it). Filled the screw hole with a piece of rubber cut off flush with the latch handle. I thread a cable between the feet of the tribrach and secure it to a fixed object.

What I did, GPS receiver: drilled a hole through one of the stiffening webs in the bottom casting, then looped and crimped a cable through that. The cable fits over a small plate with a lock hole that I riveted to the top of a 2-meter tripod. The tripod also has a bracket near the bottom that another cable can be locked to.
