I recently posted an ad on the "autolevel" website asking for T-2 accessories.
I received on interesting e-mail by a gentlemen who stated he had the particular pieces I needed. He wanted 160 pounds (being in England) for an astrolabe, telescope roof plummet, and some eyepiece prisms. Pretty cheap.
So, I asked for pics.

Heck if I know what that first do-hickey is, but I recognize the second pic. It's from an ebay sale a few months back and a simple google search brings it up.

My reply;

No reply from Kenneth.

Oh well...

The first item is an accessory prism for a Pentacon SLR camera.

http://www.pentaconsix.com/Prisms.htm

The prism could be removed, revealing a ground glass screen that could be used as a view camera. It was great for news photog work as the camera could be held overhead in a crowd and the image could be seen on the screen.

The prisms had different focusing screens and could be interchanged/upgraded, etc.

This accessory has absolutely nothing to do with land surveying.

The ratio of scams to legit sales on eBay from British sellers has gotten so high in recent years that I no longer bid on any auctions from sellers in England. In fact, Canada is the only non-U.S. country that I'll even consider now when it comes to eBay.
