Contractor: yeah I can't hit the new control you put in- I'm m issing it 1.5' in northing and 1.5 in Easting. you must have doubled up the scale factors or something. I calibrated to the old control and hit the stakes fine, but I miss your new control.

Me: I don't see how that could happen, And we had really good residuals on things so I'll check our stuff out and see what I can do.

I look thru our stuff- double ties from old control to new control are fitting within .03' it all looks good- Not sure how things went with the staking folks (state crew) and they just say they had good alignments and stuff fits. Talk with the inspector/ He says he thinks the stakes are good but they haven't verified the new control yet.

by the way at this time there is only 1 old control point remaining.....

My GPS is in another county to the NW- opposite of this Job. I'm was going to head south on Monday, but Load up everything into the robot I have all the points found and set during the cadastral portion of the preconstruction phase in hand- and head out.

I get here- construction limits have been stripped, so most most points inside the r/w limits are gone and of course most lines of sight are obstructed, I set up and resect in using the new control. .01' rms on resection. .015 vertical. - Contractor is occupying the lone remaining original control point with his base.

Inspector shows me a few points still in.
I stake out the 1st one - tsc3 says I'm out by .01 and .01 (500'+/- from gun)
stake out the next one that is the section corner- the hole has been patched over. just set up on top the patch- .14 N- .05 E ( 600'+/- from gun)

stake out next point - find the cap- .04 N .05 E ( 550+/-' from the gun)

stake out next point - find the cap-.12 north .03 east ( 1100'+/- from gun)

shoot 5 different catches and or reference stakes on 2 different alignments- all match within .15 for station and offset.

Tomorrow we'll be having a talk with the contractor about his calibration.:snarky:

But, calibration is not all that important........ Basis of Brg is TRUE, or GRID, or whatever that thing does!

🙂

Yeah, if you're within 0.15 ft. with RTK you're basically there within one RTK RCH. What's the beef?

I really love "Ring Ring" 'cause I can relate to it so much.

This sounds like a decimal point error to me. On the contractors part of course. +o(
