Thinking like a builder rather than a surveyor, why would you need to carry the grids through the building if the shell is already there? I could understand the need for a new build with structural elements but since that's not the case, wouldn't resecting of the building walls/corners work? You're essentially trying to fit everything into the existing floorspace and with the building moving around as you get higher, sticking to the same control network seems counterproductive.?ÿ
We laser scanned the entire interior of the building(s) to create an as-built for the architect so he could adjust his 3D model to fit the existing conditions.?ÿ Many 100+ year old buildings in downtown St. Louis are being gutted and repurposed as multi-use with apartments or hotels.?ÿ They found out real quick that these old buildings are anything but square and perfectly plumb.?ÿ They design these hotels down to the inch on the inside.?ÿ A lot of pre-fab countertops, interior walls etc. are built off-site and are meant to slide right in to place.?ÿ Saves a lot of head scratching.
