Been using cowbells to power up the R8 base, for the R10 it's been a motorcycle type battery.
Since there are a couple of unused cowbell cases sitting around figured why not put a lithium in one and see if it will run the R10.
The onboard battery will run it for hours so it's a good time to try it out.
It's cold, mostly small surveys so the rover is never far from the base just in case.
A perfect time to try it out.?ÿ
It's been running the base the last two weeks, no charging.
Most days are part days with the GPS, it's dark between 4:30 and 5 so the crew isn't out long.
But still, a long day Monday, part day Tues and today and most of last week.?ÿ
Never thought it would work this well, the regular batteries are not going to be used again.?ÿ
whats the sampling rate for the base??ÿ and what is "cold" where you are at??ÿ
What is a cowbell?

@jitterboogie?ÿ Ahh, I didn't know these things were actually called that.?ÿ Ha
Temp 15-20 lows, 30-45 highs
sampling rate??ÿ
We are doing small local RTK surveys, base is broadcasting at 2 watts.?ÿ
These are for small boundaries. Some utility work, small topos.
chicken bucket, box of knowledge, cowbell, Trimble seems to have gathered up a bunch of nicknames.?ÿ

or Lack of Knowledge....?ÿ I always joke about the design people not really having enough field time when they release some of their 'cool' designs.....
?ÿ
10hz 1hz?ÿ 0.1hz .05hz.....?ÿ?ÿ ???? what is your gps recording at?
Oh so you are broadcasting too. was wondering if you were just collecting static.?ÿ What is the AH of the LiOn battery you're using?
I don't recall the AH, I think it's 14, broadcasting is the limit for the base battery, only collecting static I would assume it would last weeks from what I've seen. The 2 watt radio is what chews up power.?ÿ
