Guys, I think the very first thing I will need is some way to map what I need. I am not sure how easy it might be to get the data from the collector? We use serial 232 every day here and have our CNC softwares that might just work to capture the data from the CU but I have no idea what that format will look like or what software would be able to digest it?

At the very least, I would need a simple way to manually type in point locations as I see it on the CU so I can somehow maintain a digital map of the points.

Do these older machines still have the most basic math functions on them? Say I want to locate two property pins. I do that and record their position. Then I want to general additional points along that line?

Another is that I will need to add points based on dimensions I have. Say 200ft S and 100ft W from control point, can I operate the CU in a dimension mode so I can just invoke tracking and move the target around until the proper point is located?

Surely there is some freeware somewhere so I can manually jot in coordinates to create a basic map?
