Last week, I was setting 4 loops for a large property 33,000 m square by Leica Total Station with existing controls on the street, when I was doing setup BS = 150m, FS= 140m - 160m, the error between each setup < 4mm, ~10 setups for each loop. When I check the controls in the same loop, the traverse error is around 4mm for each closure loop, but when I do check 4 loops together, the results are 20cm 50cm 60cm error. I've already used GPS - RTK stream to tie in the controls

Add cross ties to create a network (your RTK may be sufficient), and balance using MicroSurvey's StarNet or the equivalent.

I am not aware of any field software that will do this on a data collector, but it would not surprise me if there is such a thing. Most office support programs (Trimble, Topcon, etc) have the ability to balance a network.?ÿ

Multiple traverse loops + GNSS = least squares.

Compass rule for multiple loops can give different results depending on how it's run, and leaves the GNSS observations (that actually tie everything together) out altogether. It's like using a screwdriver to hammer in a nail.

Least squares will get you the best results and also help with blunder checks.

Add cross ties to create a network

+1

Cross ties can really strengthen a traverse and a least squares adjustment is the way to go!

33,000m square is a large area, 33,000 square meters isn't very large at all. I'm thinking you're talking about 33,000 sq m, not 1000 sq kilometers.?ÿ

Are the GPS data and existing street control coordinates from the same reference frame/datum?
