I mailed my red brick Leica total station battery (GEB 171) to Primecell to be rebuilt a few months ago. They are located in Bedford, PA. They rebuilt it for only $145. A new battery is around $375-$395. The new battery is 10 amp hours, and the old one was 8 amp hours. The battery was back in our office in just a few days, and has worked great. I am not associated with Primecell, just wanted to pass along the information to those in need.
How many car batteries with much larger capacities could I get for these prices?
If you could get all instrument batteries standardized, the prices of them would come way down. This priority gimmick used today is a rip off. We used to be able to hook our systems directly to a 12 volt battery, but that didn't last long. Won't change until it is demanded by all along with the courage to delay purchases until the standardization gets done. A nation of wimps will get ripped off every time.
jud
Go to battery plus and by a couple 12 volt wheel chair batterys for 40 bucks each one is 10 amp hours . Used to run my APLl-1a with this set up worked great for 10 years.
Think of all the time and money we could save if we standardized auto parts........;-)
