Ridiculous design!

Ridiculous design.

How are you supposed to make a underground cavity and fill??

You have to drill out a hole with fence post hole digger as too deep to hand dig so that you get the required diameter at bottom/. Cheaper to back fill hole with concrete to the surface than tamp 3 feet of earth around centre collar.

We take on average an hour to dig a hole 1foot by 1foot by 1foot, mix concrete pour and set marker.

You would want to know soil type, if rock or sand.

depends on hire of machinery and cost of concrete. You would want at least $300 plus costs for each...

Agreed, obviously designed by someone who has no basis in the real world. Are these to be set and then position determined, or dialed in to a specific location?

We are about to begin a similar project for four monuments, but the monument specs are much more reasonable. We are using a jackhammer to remove the pavement and remaining concrete. It is in the center of a major roadway, so we have two days of barricade service, two days of jackhammer rental, fast drying concrete approved by the state DOT, two days for the crew, and time to prepare documentation for recordation of corner forms. Local contractors were not interested, because it was such a small project.

You dig the hole and you then take a sharpshooter and make the cavity. We've been doing it for years.
