Hey guys, im currently using a nikon nivo instrument at my job. When i started we had a Leica and it was great. This nikon is killing my neck as i have to poke my head much farther forward every shot and the cheif is very side shot heavy. Any tips or suggestions for taking strain off my neck?

I don't see anything unusual about the nivo.
Are you a tall person??ÿ I am and was having neck (and shoulder) problems due to stooping.?ÿ Solved by getting a taller tripod.
Taller tripod.
Put a brick or something like that in your work area and rest one of your feet on it periodically through your set ups.?ÿ
Probably still getting used to the instrument.
When you can run it blindfolded like the Leica, all will return to normal.
You could try setting up with a different stance or adjust the height, search for your comfort zone.
?ÿ
I have been prone to neck and shoulder pains but found ?ÿafter all the years of standing behind a TS there is relief available.?ÿ
Not saying ?ÿa panacea for all ills, but I now take periodic step back from my Nikon (not a Nivo), extend an arm and roll it about, do same for other, shrug my shoulders and roll those both ways, rock my head from left to right, back to front etc.
Might look silly, but doesn't bother me.
And keep the fluids up.
It has helped immensely.?ÿ
As others say keep instrument legs to comfortable height, get a longer set if needed.
Have someone take a photo of you doing your stuff and see what that reveals.?ÿ
All the best. It can literally be a pain in the neck and ?ÿno joke.?ÿ
