Well done OZ surveyors.

http://spatialsource.com.au/2010/09/21/article/Spatial-concerns-over-broadband-plan/AVDQVLYWPU.html

Too much of our Ontario survey monumentation is destroyed as there is no inventory pre and post construction for such types of road building and underground infrastructure along with a substantial $$$ holdback until final clearance by the project surveyor as there is with the project engineer !

Cheers

Derek

Derek in SOZ we have an extremely high percentage of our reference marks covered in townships and suburbs, with location plots as an aside to their coordinates and boundary plan connection. All new permanent marks are MGA 94 coordinated into the control network. Many Rural areas have blue witness droppers beside the mark with a sign saying offset distance to permanent mark and phone contact details to the mark maintenance team..

We also have DB4UD so I do not see a problem here in SOZ.

The practice here is a mark requires to be destroyed in course of civil construction then mark maintenance make a decision to place recovery marks to enable later reconstruction or if network sufficient to not replace.

Our system evolved when underground telecommunication was originally rolled out on the same line as our traditional tie line, then 3 feet offset in the days before DB4UD was conceived.

Again our central plan register will make it easy to assess in roll out areas where permanent marks have not recently been founded or referenced , especially in rural areas.
