I found an old USLS monument that someone used as a plat monument :-X

I see a graphic on the old topo maps, but there isn't a NGS benchmark icon in my TNP program. I did a radial search on the NGS site, and came up with one in the area:
http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/ds_pid.prl/1 PID=QK0748

When I try to retrieve the datasheet, it says No Marks Found, but then again lists the PID at the bottom of the page. Is there another place I can get the datasheet on this old monument? I want to use the description to prove that this is a USLS monument, not a plat monument.

Thank you.

A direct link to the same info: POPLAR USLS 1964 QK0748

This is probably all you are going to get. It says that there is no descriptive text available and no good geodetic data.

I'm guessing (only a guess) that the lake survey data for this mark was brought into the NGS data base with a bunch of others, but was determined to be of insufficient quality to use in the general datum adjustment.

The fact that it is a geodetic monument does not preclude someone using it as a corner when subdividing land. It is just unlikely. It would have to be called out in the deed description to also be considered as land survey monument.

I have seen geodetic monuments called for as reference, line and corner monuments in a few deeds.

Shoot them and report how they are marked. geodetic coordinates have no influence over boundary lines. It is where it is, not much else matters.
