OK, I got power to it.... And it turns out that the keyboard has a ribbon on the bottom, and the clip mechanism is ruined. This makes for intermittent contact, and odd behavior. So, it is gonna need a new keyboard. When I dig holes, I digs 'em deep! (Meaning, I'm in trouble!)
So, I bought another Ranger TDS 200c from a friend... (got it, but aint paid for it yet).
So, I am back at work... But I found that the Leg Ant antenna has some cracks in it... So, We are waiting for the SHOE GOO to dry.

Shoe Goo is pretty handy!

Think about how much time you've spent/wasted on this and multiply it by your rate. You could've just bought the $950 collector. I would have picked up the $950 collector and sent the old one out for repair. If they could fix it for a reasonable price I would have two data collectors in case one went down again.

You are absolutely right. Very right.

We all have our disorders, Right?

It's my disorder.

Glad you took that well. I wasn't sure how it would go over.

I just remember wasting weeks trying to get an old SDR-33 to connect to my modern PC and buying cables and adapters, etc. Eventually I bought a $600 used collector that worked fine.

Repairing old equipment is like hunting for ancient section corners or old stones in the respect that it is extremely frustrating if you spend a long time and never find it(/repair it). And it is adversely extremely satisfying if you succeed.

(P.S. I was asking about radio shack in earnest. both the Radio Shacks here shut down, and I thought the big corporation went belly up)

That is not my only disorder. I just spent an hour fixing a 0.08' drafting error, so it would work out good later.
I think I have a pedantic case of Aspergers syndrome! Or, is that the same disorder as above?

We still have a Radio Shack. I am not very sure how and why. I mean, it does not seem that they sell enough to stay in business. But, they are here. Must be doing something.

PS, maybe it is just their disorder... They want to be in a Radio Shack business, and they have enough money...

Is my disorder, too. But I have so much fun indulging it!

On a more serious note, if I could bill 2,000 hours a year I'd be happy to buy new stuff whenever the old stuff gets cranky. But the reality is that I always have bits of down time every month, so if I can spend that time fixing old stuff instead of spending money buying new stuff, I figure it's a good use of my time. And, did i mention that I have fun doing it?

Titanium Dioxide is in a LOT things - especially white things - its used mostly used as a pigment - it is in most white paint and plastic - and it wont effect GPS...
