That stands for the New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors pronounced "Nice Apples" for those that are not from around here)
Tuesday afternoon I'm heading up to Verona for the NY Conference. Weather is not looking conducive to driving, but we'll see what happens.
Any one else planning to be there?
KS
As in most most years, I'll be attending NJ Conference in Atlantic City instead.
It's a combination of distance (265 miles vs 135), weather (heading north into central New York vs. heading south of the Mason Dixon Line in Jan-Feb), and accommodations (Bally's vs. Turning Stone is a nearly toss-up for hotel, but Bally's has an indoor connection to three other hotel/casinos, and several others are a short walk or drive away.)
About 75 or 80% of the courses given at the NJ conference are accredited for NY, and many for PA as well.
Don't know for sure how many folks are going...but I will guarantee it is only for the so called educational credits that you get, funny thing is they didn't even send me the info this year. I think NYSAPLS is sort of extinct!!!! All of my friends that are licensed are not going, so neither will I, wish it was different, used to be worth while!!
I'll be there, keeping current on CEU's and catching up with old friends.
Verona is about an hour north of me. I'll be commuting to save some coin.
I can believe they have, again, approved the "communications" lecture, but won't allow pragmatic business basics. I learned Kumbaya in Sunday school, I don't think it's appropriate as a professional development course, particularly when it is prefaced by "Principles of an Adequate Boundary Survey". Bait and switch.
Aside from that, the lineup looks nice. Mr. Doyle will be there and I look forward to the Civil War Mapping lecture on Friday.
