Back in the 90's we had a Hughes 500. We developed a boom that mounted on the side of the ship. While in flight it folded up and held the antenna just below the rotor, when we got to the destination it folded down and we could detach the antenna and place it on the point. This was back in the days before RTK. We went through all the hoops to get FAA approval for the boom.
You must be BLM, they are the only ones I am aware of that have a nomex requirement. Are there others?
