Very long time lurker, first time poster.

This is a hail mary shot in the dark but I am wondering if anyone has access to or knowledge of the records of a surveyor named Charles Fischer. From what I can gather he practiced in SW NH from at least 1880 until at a minimum 1900. I am specifically looking for some plans that he prepared in Langdon, NH just over the river from Vermont. I have looked through NHLSA's catalog of surveyors records but there is no mention of him. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated in sorting out what is turning into a major headache.

Welcome To Beerleg Paul D!!

Thanks. Was back at the site today, found what I believe are two piles of stones left from original stake and stones. Having difficulties due to the fact that the clients deed calls out the bounds described only by abutters and says that it contains 106 acres based on a plan by the surveyor I mentioned above. Deed from 1800 gives the dimensions as 160 rods by 100 rods (100 acres) but when I taped off the line called out as 160 rods I did find an iron rod in stones missed only by 80' taped up very steep ledges, however, I was at the SE corner of the west abutter. Not good. Appears that the widow of the original owner sold the west half of the 100 ac. parcel in 1894 only to have the daughter of the original owner sell the east half in 1904, claiming it to contain the entire original area. Apparently everyone who has owned the property for the last 100 years believed they owned 106 acres when they only appear to own ~55. An adventure to be sure.

Like I said before, seriously doubt anyone has any pertinent info but its worth a try. I have been lurking here since its inception and back on the old POB board for several years. Learned a ton and this is the only place where I feel I even have a chance to get a question like this answered, so thanks.

While I can't help you with your particular issue, I can hope that Perry Williams chimes in here... if I remember correctly, he is in New Hampshire (but don't quote me on that). He may not have the answers either, but at least he is in the right geographical area. You might also want to try contacting him via his profile, if he has allowed private messages, or maybe there is a link to his website there.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. 🙂

You're welcome! We're happy to have you here and hopefully someone can help you out soon.
