What stations are NOT published ???
The Latitude and Longitude is not published if one of
the conditions listed below exists:
Surface Mark Reported Destroyed
Surface and underground mark reported destroyed
A-Order Horizontal mark not tied to an adjusted HARN
C-Nonoperational CORS Station
Weakly determined position.
Purpose of position is not for network control
No Descriptive Text available
Restricted position
Outside NGS Publication Area
The Orthometric Height is not published if one of
the conditions listed below exists:
Surface Mark Reported Destroyed
Surface and underground mark reported destroyed
Bench Mark not yet adjusted.
No Descriptive Text available
Presumed destroyed
Restricted elevation
Outside NGS Publication Area

So if a mark is erroneously reported destroyed, how does one get the datasheet if you find it.
Some of the ways of searching their data base (PID, coordinates, etc.) have a check box for "Include Destroyed Marks" or "Destroyed Marks Only"
I have a philosophical difference with NGS over their method of logging destroyed reports. You submit evidence and circumstances, and all they put on the data sheet is "Reported destroyed by John Doe." I wish they would include a statement of those circumstances so later viewers could evaluate the likelihood that the report was mistaken.
If you know the PID go to "Datasheets by PID" page. In the menu below the box where you enter the PID select the tab that says "Include Destroyed Marks." If you have a mark that was erroneously listed as destroyed send a note to Ms. Deb Brown -- deb.brown@noaa.gov explaining the situation. She can have the datasheet restored.
Almost always I do a radial search about my GPS base. I just realized that the reported missing were not being returned. No way to really know unless you stubbed your toe on the thing that is supposedly not there.
I do not see that check box, but I do see a "destroyed marks only" search option. That would seem useless if destroyed is true.
I wondered how that worked. I reported a station destroyed back in 2011. Last time I checked to see if it had been noted as destroyed the datasheet would not come up, so when I pull by PID and check it it finally showed my report as destroyed. How long does it typically take for these to go through? I would have to say my report took at least 3 years to get processed...
Sad part is that someone stole the brass disk off of this monument. It was located at a high traffic area at the Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill, NC. It was located at the base of the Sundial, so plenty of kids could see it and wonder what it was...... http://www.moreheadplanetarium.org/about-morehead
