Just got a new Seco 8ƒ?? carbon fiber prism pole. Iƒ??ve seen in previous postings about using a piece of metal tubing to help protect at point of connection with collector bracket. Any ideas of how to protect graduations from say 1 foot mark to tip from wearing off with use??ÿ

While my Seco carbon pole is black with no graduations on the lower portion, I do use bipod legs, and was concerned that the feet would wear away at the carbon fiber.?ÿ

My solution was to cover the bottom 8 inches with a road bicycle tire tube. It is a bugger to get on, but once it is on it does the trick. It did bunch up after 600 ground shots with the rod driven through 2 feet of crusted snow.

I end up replacing the tube annually.?ÿ

While I havenƒ??t done this, if you want a transparent coating, I would suggest coating with ƒ??whip end dipƒ?. It is a tough clear coating I used to use on the ends of my climbing ropes so they wouldnƒ??t unravel.
