Today a purple bus went flying by my set up. It said UNI and something about Panthers. A bit of research once I got in told me it was the women's basketball team from the University of Northern Iowa. They played on Friday in Springfield, MO. They play tomorrow afternoon in Wichita, KS. Wowwee zowwee, what a thrill for a bunch of young ladies to spend their winter vacation time hanging out in hotels in such exotic locales instead of getting a chance to see their families and friends for a few days. But, some of them might take anywhere over Cedar Falls, Iowa at this time of year.

A quick search for Cedar Falls on Wikipedia provided a list of notable people connected with the city for any reason. The only one I deemed noteworthy was former UNI and NFL star, Kurt Warner. Under the category, Sister Cities, was the comment: Cedar Falls has no sister. Anyone want to volunteer your town to be her sister? Is there an Elm Rises anywhere?

My wife went to UNI while we were dating. A buddy of mine also had a girlfriend attending UNI. We had a lot of fun visiting Cedar Falls on the weekends.
Cedar Falls is a really nice City and the downtown area has really changed in the last 15 years.

I must confess my first guess was University of Northern Illinois. I don't think there is a Northern school in either Idaho or Indiana.

I live 20 minutes from cedar falls. Very nice town and university. UNI has had many trips to the ncaa tournament and made it to the sweet sixteen a few years back.

The long standing joke/saying in Iowa is if the Southern two rows of counties where given to Missouri, it would raise the average IQ in both states. Haha just a joke, have a nice new year!

Ask Kansas, North Carolina, and Missouri (way back) who UNI is?
I doubt any mid-major coach has his phone ring more at hiring time than Ben Jacobsen, yet he hangs around and keeps doing it.
