Hi all,

I have a Leica 1100 GSI file that I need to translate into a rw5 file so I can change the descriptions from some type of coding system into TMOSS coding. I have Carlson X-Port and have tried the various options in order to get the appropriate transformation. The problem I am having is that I "seem" to get the values into the rw5 format, however, all of my resulting coordinates are approximatly a foot or more different than the actual values. My best guess is that the transformation is mixing horizontal distance with slope distance; or worse.

I've spent several hours working on the file I have in hand with no luck. Does anyone out there know the proper settings to choose from or does anyone know which type of software I need in order to get the desired results? There are several settings to choose from and none seem to work.

One more teeny issue: I need to add a value to both the northing and easting because the 1100 will only deal with 8 characters total and our project coordinates are a modified UTM. So, editing the coordinates could be much more difficult than modifying the NEZ of the control in the rw5 file.

I am at a loss as to what to do next...

🙁

Hi Diana...WELCOME aboard!

I have never used a data collector with a Total Station, but I have decoded a few raw files for others (it's usually a real PITA). I have no experiance with Leica gear (other than GPS) so I'm no help...SORRY.

There are a few folks on this board who should be able to help you out though.

Good luck,
Loyal

Hey Loyal,

It is good to see a familiar name. I have a 1203 that I love (thanks to D. May) and required some help on a large project from a friend who has an 1100 (both Robots). Problem is that they don't seem to speak the same language because I use the Allegro/Carlson and my friend uses just the native Leica gear.

I hope to see you around somewhere, it I ever get outta here!

There is a "Leica to Carlson" conversion in the convert point format inside Carlson Survey. This would convert the coordinate file not the RAW file though.

I know the 1100 series will only allow an 8 letter file name because it uses the DOS operation system however I have not seen any limits on the field sizes inside the data collection program.

It could be a problem with mixing HD with SD. Another problem I used to run into was degrees-minutes-seconds being read as decimal degrees.
