Curious if any have used these and how they find them in use?
I like full alpha numeric keyboards, but these units have some feature I would find useful.
Camera, GPS [acknowledging its position (in)accuracy], battery life (claimed).
Comments appreciated thanks.
Never heard of them.
Gotta get looking.

Looks pretty good. I don't know if I can do without a full qwerty keyboard. IF it were laid sideways, withe a qwerty, I'd be huntin me one!

Looks like it has the recon/nomad chassis.
I am with Nate, I prefer a full keyboard. I have pretty big hands, and, while I love my promark 3 units, I could not work on a virtual keypad all day. That is the only equipment that I have that I can compare the no keyboard feature.
Another hardware gadget with no keyboard
O forgot to add no keyboard pure Krap
Yea pure Krap

I had the Recon for 3 years. Now the Nomad for 3 years. Both Bluetooth. I must say I've never missed the full key pad. I've run it in extreme heat and cold, 400 to 600 shots a day for 4 to 8 days never having to charge it. I like the size. It's never let me down. Fact is I've been catching some military sniper shows lately, and they all have been using the Nomad with ballistic software in extreme conditions. A first class data collector and hand held field computer in my book.
As far as the one above. I saw one at the MAPS convention last week. Looked like a Nomad knock off. I had no reason to look closer than 2 feet away.
How many laptops can I buy for the price of a data collector these days? Think about it.
Joe I am pure surveying here - should have said that up top.
Not sure I'd want to carry a latop about, but if you are referring to the price - then I have always considered these things way overpriced.
I wonder why they don't make alpha/numeric keys as in mobile phones and Total Station keypads?
I was bought up on the latter and found I could punch out words/ codes etc very quickly with one.
That said it doesn't replace a full keyboard.
I have a Jet CE (Microsurvey Tracker Extreme) that at times the keyboard plays up and I have to close Field Genius and restart.
But if I'm not wanting to restart I can use the touch keypad. I know which I'd prefer.
If it was alpha pad and had to use numbers from touch screen might have different thoughts.
Interestingly the Nautiz is $600 cheaper than the Nomad equivalent here in Australia. I can buy it for less than suppliers offer in USA. Usually other way round my miles ($'s)

I've never understood why surveyors are stuck on a full qwerty keyboard. Am I missing something?

From my experience with HP calculators and alpha/numeric keyboards I find I can almost touch type without my eyes on the keyboard.
Certainly I can enter a whole close on the HP that way.
Full keyboards have shortcuts embedded that are very useful, touchpad keyboards take up screen room that at times I find frustrating in some commands.
Its also more taxing on the eyes to use touch pad keys and needs more concentartion as they are (in my case) much closer together than the real keyboard.
I have large hands and fingers so have run into trouble with devices with small keys.
I guess its what you are used to and feel best with for the job at hand.
