Had lunch at the same table as Walt Robillard today. Discovered he started out in the Adirondacks as a kid, His family came from near the same area as one of my great-great grandfathers.

Amusing anecdote. In the middle of his lecture this afternoon HIS CELL PHONE RANG. As it was his daughter, he spoke with her for a few seconds then got back down to business.

Interesting gentlemen and very well read. I have enjoyed speaking to him about books and not necessarily survey related.
He and the late Justin Wilson got along famously at one conference that I attended many years ago.

I worked a day in the field with Walt and my step-father Dan Branham (some of you GA guys will know him) about 10 years ago. He was 70+- then and got around like a young man. I remember it was a cold day in Jan or Feb and he was out working in a pair of shorts. He is a good ol guy.

Black Friday

Walt told us that his parents got married on the same day as the stock market crash in 1929. Also, his grandfather died that same day.
